We are not pleased with their new $8 fee tacked onto entrants who do not have a UCI license or Citizen permit - their way of justifying being an OCA member.

The race is exactly the same as last year with maybe one suprise if the trails are in excellent condition. One wave from bottom of Brock hydro hill.

We have decided to go with Easter Monday as it leaves time for families on Easter Sunday, and most people are off work that day. As well it ensures a well-timed effort six days out from P2A.

For more info and a great video of last years race please visit our site at www.laketolake.ca

thanks tim

Just completed the "Tour of Pelham" this Sunday and wanted to thank Tim Lefebvre for putting on such an amazing event that is worth checking out next year, especially if you like Paris Ancaster. This race starts up a 12% grade hill for a few hundred meters and sets the tone and selection for the entire race. I was in a chase group of 4 riding echelons on my mountain bike with the others on carbon cross bikes with aero wheels (gotta love it!) as we just missed making the lead group in the first 30 seconds of the race! There were about 15 guys ahead of us that we could see for a while up the road but eventually they were out of sight. The course was really challenging with tons of rolling terrain, tight fast turns and at one point you repeat a section that has slower riders coming toward you on the opposite side on the road till you finish the loop and head for the single track at the end. I was feeling great till the last few km , my right hamstring started to cramp, and not having cramped in years I blew it off as nothing to worry about, but I was so wrong...in the last hundred and fifty meters, with the finish just outside of the muddy wooded section I was in, my leg cramped so bad I could not stay on the bike or straighten my leg at all, I sat there in mud trying desperately to relax the muscle but every time I moved it cramped again, until a nearby race marshall came over and asked me if if I wanted him to massage it abit, I didn't hesitate for a second, "of course!", I responded! Talk about race support! With riders barrelling down on me, I've got a volunteer marshall rubbing the cramp out of my leg, and I can hear the cheers for riders finishing so I had to get going! .. I anxiously got up and finished the race 19th. Commenting on what had just happened, one of the guys I had been riding with said "What happens in Pelham, stays in Pelham". Thanks for a great event!
David Labancz

Edited: 12-02-2 19:42:32 by: TLefebvre

Commissaires Wanted - RVisser

Sometime in the coming months the OCA will be offering the Provincial Commissaire Course for anyone who wants to manage a cycling team, organize a bike race, or best of all, to become a bike race official.

Please let me know or reply to this post, if you are interested. If you are interested and would subsequently donate your time to the Club (as a race official or organizer) then the club would cover any course costs and expenses.

And if you are interested in becoming an active official please let me know. I will be receiving more information from the OCA soon and will post it as well.

... rob
