| Name: KDickenson Subject: More Bike Lanes Date: 2010-01-08 09:43:26 Kalar Rd in Niagara Falls was reconstructed with bike lanes. In October some residents took it to City Council to try to get rid of the bike lanes and use them for parking and Council ruled in our favour to keep bike lanes. Now some citizens are going back to council to try to get it changed so that they can park on it in the ‘winter’ and only use it as bike lanes in the ‘riding season’ . To an avid cyclist or a person who commutes on a bike as a mode of transportation ‘riding season’ is the whole year. We (the Trails and Bikeways Committee) are going back to City Council on January 25th to fight the proposed amendment and keep the bike lanes open as bike lanes all year. We are looking for supporters to come out and just stand in the galley behind us in support of keeping the bike lanes and promoting the development of more bike lanes. It will be at Niagara Falls City Hall, downstairs and will probably be at 4:00pm but I will have more details closer to the date.
